In this intermediate glassblowing course taught by both Lisa Zerkowitz and Boyd Sugiki the objectives will be to build a solid foundation, refine skills, work more efficiently, and establish an understanding of how working on a small scale can translate into larger works. The first two days of the workshop will focus on basic forms such as the tumbler, cylinder and bowl, moving logically from one shape to the next. With these skills, color use will be demonstrated during the following three days. Simple overlays, basic cane work, lip wraps, and incalmo (both hot joined as well as fused tubing), will be demonstrated. Instruction will be personalized to build on individual skills, and one-on-one time will be given to help find simple solutions to common struggles.
