Then & Now @Pratt
Since 1976, Pratt Fine Arts Center has been a place where creativity and community meet. What began as a city-funded arts facility in a former Wonder Bread garage has grown into a vibrant campus serving thousands each year. Then, artists and community members united to establish Pratt and shape its future. Now, beginners and professionals work side-by-side across dozens of disciplines. Rooted in access and possibility, Pratt continues to honor its namesake, Edwin T. Pratt, by opening doors to all.

Pratt Then:
Originally conceived as a “fire arts” studio, Pratt focused on the hottest mediums: glass, jewelry, metals, and ceramics.

Pratt Then:
Pratt began in a 1920s Wonder Bread building powered by artists, volunteers, and big dreams

Pratt Then:
In the early 1980s, when city funding was cut, artists and community members formed a nonprofit to keep Pratt going.

Pratt Now:
Today, Pratt is thriving. Thousands engage each year through classes, studio access, and free public programs.

Pratt Now:
More than 60 disciplines—including drawing painting, printmaking, stonecarving, woodworking, and more– fill Pratt’s studios with creative energy.

Pratt Now:
Three buildings with 14 studios are alight with creativity every day. All are welcome.
